Nick Carroll

I’m Nick. I build open publishing platforms and decentralized ID frameworks for legal professionals. This is my digital home, where my content originates and where I publish the proofs that make my OLPN credentials machine verifiable.

About Me

I’m the founder of Alt[2+1] Development, where we build infrastructure for self-hosted legal publishing — including the OLPN protocol, which links domain-bound identity with verifiable credentials.

About This Site

This site publishes machine-verifiable OLPN JSON-LD. My domain isn’t just a homepage or personal blog — it’s a decentralized identity hub that links to verifiable credentials issued by the platforms, communities, and networks I’m part of. No walled gardens. No gatekeepers. No centralized profile to lose. It’s mine, end to end.

This Ghost-powered site is:

  • A host for OLPN identity proofs and my public ActivityPub actor
  • A publishing platform that supports long-form and short-form content, with distribution across web, email, RSS, and the Fediverse

Every post originates here. Some are syndicated to alt21.dev, The Legal Examiner, or other federated platforms. Others remain local. But this is always the root.

Expect posts on:

  • Privacy-first tech (GrapheneOS, Proton, self-hosting)
  • Decentralized identity, open protocols, and credential systems
  • Monopoly power, regulation, and the future of free speech
  • Personal experiments and thoughts on independence and publishing

It’s a digital front porch — readable, verifiable, and under my control.

Nearly everything I publish originates here—my canonical, self-hosted Ghost site. It supports long-form and microblog-style posts, and distributes via multiple open protocols:

Other Channels

These accounts are separate from the feeds at nickcarroll.com. They exist to support other aspects of my work and experimentation:

  • Mastodon: @nick@mastodon.law
This is my tech support and publishing helpdesk—where I answer questions about OLPN, Alt[2+1] platforms, and decentralized publishing tools like Ghost and WordPress.
  • Bluesky (exploratory): @nickcarroll.com
An independent account used to explore the AT Protocol and its potential for OLPN integration, Alt[2+1] clients, and future bridging with ActivityPub and other open systems. I’m using it to better understand Bluesky’s capabilities and to expand my network there as the ecosystem matures.
